Paris-Interlaken train options

Short summary – read this first

JK is planning their first Europe trip this September, spending 4 nights in Paris and 4 nights in Wengen. They are looking for advice on train tickets for the Paris to Interlaken route, specifically if there's a direct train and which websites to use for reservations.

Key takeaways:
  • Use the SBB Timetable to find train options and plan your travel effectively.
  • For the Paris to Interlaken trip, you will likely need to change trains in Basel, so check the schedules closely.
  • Consider getting the Swiss Travel Pass or a regional pass like the Bernese Oberland Pass if you plan to travel more in Switzerland.

Hello Jk and Welcome to MySwissAlps,

Use the SBB Timetable (http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable) to plan your travel. If you are not familiar with using the timetable it will pay to first read the instructions on that page.

    Have a look at http://www.myswissalps.com/tr aintickets/france.

Best case you have just 1 train change in Basel, rockoyster’s link to the timetable will show you your most direct options by default.

A rail pass might be a good idea at least for Switzerland, perhaps the Regional Pass – Bernese Oberland or the Jungfrau Travel Pass if you aren’t traveling far from Wengen during your stay.

A 2 country Eurail Pass could work out as well (less likely though): https://www.myswissalp s.com/eurailselectpass

Paris – Switzerland high speed TGV trains are run by a joint venture known as TGV Lyria:

For Paris – Interlaken, you take a Paris – Basel or Paris – Bern Lyria TGV and change for the internal SBB train to Interlaken
