Pass for skiing around Zermatt in November

Short summary – read this first

Denise is planning a ski trip to Zermatt in November and is looking for information on when to buy her one-day winter ski pass. She's also curious about the discount for her husband, who plans to visit Glacier Paradise but does not ski, and if the Swiss Travel Pass offers any savings on the excursion ticket.

Key takeaways:
  • Sign up for notifications on when the winter ski pass becomes available for purchase.
  • Your husband can buy a standard excursion ticket for Glacier Paradise on site, and he can use your Swiss Travel Pass for a 50% discount on that ticket.
  • It's best to purchase tickets after checking the weather forecast for the best experience.

    Hello!

I have plans to ski in Zermatt in November. I continue to check http://www.matterhornparadise.ch/en/Book/Online-tickets to buy my one day winter ski pass but they are still not available. Do you know when I can purchase that? Even though I am a skier I have tentatively scheduled a half day lesson with Summit Ski School and plan to ski on November 24. We do have the 8 day train pass but assume my actual ski pass has no discount with that? My husband does not ski and I understand that for him to ride to lifts to Glacier Paradise he just needs to show his ski pass and pay when he goes but does not need to buy anything ahead of time.

Thanks for the help on these questions. I absolutely love your site!!

    Hi Denise,

The winter season on Matterhorn Glacier Paradise starts in November. You can purchase the winter ski pass here: http://www.matterhornparadise.ch/en/Information/Tickets-prices/Ski-passes-winter. The winter ski passes are not available yet but you can sign up to get notified as soon as they become available. Don’t worry, ski passes don’t usually run out and you can purchase them up to a few minutes before first using them.

If your husband is not skiing, he can just buy a standard excursion ticket to visit Matterhorn Glacier Paradise. You can find information about the tickets here: http://www.myswissalps.com/kleinmatterhorn/tickets. If you have a railpass such as a Swiss Travel Pass, you are entitled to get a discount on the standard excursion ticket. The discounts do not apply on ski passes.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Anna

Thanks Anna! I will keep checking the link you sent in regards to a ski pass. We do have the Swiss Travel pass so it is my understanding my husband will have to wait and buy his ticket once we are there to get the 50% discount correct?

    Hi Denise,

Yes, it’s recommended to purchase the mountain excursion ticket after you check the weather forecast. You can buy the discounted ticket online from the link provided in my previous post. You can also buy the ticket directly from the ticket counter. Besure to show your Swiss Travel Pass before making payment.

    Regards,

    Anna
