Plan for itinerary in Zermatt from Geneva
Glinda is planning a short trip to Zermatt with two friends after attending a conference in Geneva. They will be traveling on May 13 and 14, with plans to visit the Matterhorn and need advice on the best travel passes and activities during their stay. She wants to make the most of her time before flying back to the Philippines on the 15th.
- Consider buying the Swiss Half Fare Card instead of the Swiss Transfer Ticket, as it may save you more on rail fares and can be used for the Gornergrat and Klein Matterhorn.
- Matterhorn Glacier Paradise will be open in May, so you can include that visit in your itinerary.
- Utilize the Swiss Train Timetable to find train connections and costs for your travel plans.
- Plan all the trips you will make to see if a rail pass is more economical than individual tickets.

Hello Swiss Alps,
I need help to plan my itinerary for Zermatt. I will be in Geneva for a conference after which by May 13 and 14 will be free before heading home for the Philippines on the 15th. I’ll be travelling with 2 friends. Here’s my plan.
1.Take the train from Geneva to Zermatt 13May 8:12 with train change in Visp ,arriving in Zermatt at 11:51. Is it worth to buy the Swiss transfer ticket since my stay is less than 3 days?
2. I’ll spend half of 13 whole day of 14, visit the Matterhorn thru Gornergat railway and Glacial Paradise but not sure if its closed for maintenance in May. What other things to do for this short visit? I want to make the most of this visit.
3. Planning to return to Geneva on the 14th late afternoon or early on the 15th so as not to miss my return flight @15:00.
Thanks so much for your help
Glinda
