    Hello Teo17,

I have not yet been to Basel, so I can’t comment on that. However, in Lucerne, there are a whole slew of restaurants along the quay down from the train station on the other side of the river. Heading out of the train station, the first overpass will take you there. Just head towards the Kapellbrucke tower (you can’t miss it). There are several restaurants and cafés that are right along the waters edge with views of the bridge(s), the river, and Mt Pilatus in the distance. It’s also a good starting point to walk around the old town area. There is also a nice little cafe (Seebistro LUZ) directly across from the train station that basically sits out over the water. Walk out under the Welcome arch  just past the buses, and it’s slightly to the right. Sort of burried among the kiosks and boat platforms there. There are so many cafés, bistro’s, and restaurants scattered throughout. Many not with views of the water, but many within courtyards, plazas, and the like, with that old-time European charm. The whole city is great to walk around, on both sides of the river. (I’m getting excited writing this as I will be back there at the end of this month, yay.) Have a great trip.

    Regards,

    Danielsan

    Hi Teo17,

I agree with Danielsan regarding Lucerne.  It’s just such so aesthetically pleasing along the waterfront.

For Basel, it’s been a while since I visited – over a year ago but Restaurant Rhywyera has nice views from the terrace.

In the meantine, below are our travel guides to both Basel and Lucerne:

    Kind regards,

    Hi Teo17,

You could check out Restaurant Lumières in Château Gütsch. It’s perched on a hill above the city of Lucerne and has magnificent views. In case you’d like to combine this with a city stroll, this route may interest you: https://www.myswissalps.com/activity/walk-lucerne/.
