Some of the places around Lake Lucerne (der Vierwaldstättersee) that we have found interesting are not on the normal tourist circuit. As such, their appeal may be more limited….after all, the famous places are famous for good reason. Still, after several trips to Switzerland, we have begun to explore the more out of the way places. Here is one of them.

The town and canton of Schwyz have seminal role in the history of Switzerland. The country is named after this town in German -( der Schweiz).

In 2009 I took my daughter and granddaughter on a tour of Switzerland for about 10 days. My granddaughter was 8 years old, and not always in a sunny mood. However, some things really caught her attention and interest.

The Ital Reding House museum in Schwyz, as well as the very old Bethlehem House in the gardens of the Ital-Reding both caught her attention and prompted lots of looking, questions, and photographs.

I have attached 4 pages from a photobook that I prepared after the trip. Perhaps they will interest someone for a rainy day activity.
