SEASONAL CLOSURES

Short summary – read this first

A traveler and their wife are planning to visit the Lauterbrunnen area from March 12 to 22 next year and are curious about which cable cars might be closed during that time and whether the Trummelbach Falls will be accessible. They want to make sure they can enjoy their trip without missing out on key attractions.

Key takeaways:
  • Trummelbach Falls will be closed until April, so plan accordingly.
  • Most other cable cars should be on their winter schedule until the ski season ends in April.
  • Jungfrau never closes, making it a reliable option for visitors during this time.
  • Check cable car and railway websites for specific operating dates and potential closures.

Thank you for your promt reply regarding closures in the Lauterbrunnen area in March. My wife will be very dissapointed at the Trummelbach Falls closure , Ive seen them when I was in Lauterbrunnen with my school in 1953 and I’ve told her how wonderful they are. UnfortunatelY Easyjet don’t fly to Geneva at a convenient time to see them and any other airline is far too expensive to use.

Hi Rosedia. The most important mountain railways and cable cars are listed here, so you can check their websites to find out if there are closures during your stay. Jungfraujoch and Schilthorn can be visited anyway. Most other railways and cable cars will be open as well, as maintenance and closures often occur at the end of October or in November.

There is a summary of operating dates for mountain transport in Jungfrau region at http://www.jungfrau.ch/tourismus/reiseinfos/betriebsinformationen/betriebszeiten/.
