    Hi Yshu Krishna,

When I have guests from abroad, I would usually take them to Coop and Migros to get some chocolates they can bring home. Their store brand chocolates are fairly priced and the quality is pretty good too. For other Swiss-made souvenirs, I would go to Manor or Coop City.

Unfortunately I am not a fan of cheese fondue so can’t offer any personal recommendation 🙂 Perhaps other forum members could help out. You can also read this for some inspiration: http://www.myswissalps.com/activities/culinarytours

    Hi

We enjoyed a cheese fondue in this restaurant in Lucerne. I have attached their leaflet.

    Hope this is of help.

I agree with Anna’s opinion on COOP store brand chocolate. The first time we visited, we bought 6-7 different chocolate bars, including two types of the COOP brand “Qualite & Prix” – it was very good and very inexpensive. It will also travel well on the way home. We don’t do much souvenir shopping, and usually just come home with a few decals, coasters, and maybe a shot glass or two, so I’m not much help there. Most of the souvenir shops we saw had pretty much the same items, just with a different name on it. However, you could pick up some “Swiss Army” knives. Small knives are inexpensive, useful, an authentic souvenir and genuine Swiss product. Just be sure to put them in your checked luggage.

If you get to Luzern, I highly recommend Restaurant Fritschi in the Old Town section for fondue. It was excellent.

    Hi Yshu Krishna,

We visited the Lindt Chocolate factory at Kilchberg. They have amazing varieties of chocolates. They have beautiful gift boxes too. It is possible to mix and make a bag of our own assortment. (Loved their Mango flavor ).We did all our chocolate purchases from there. We are from India.

You will find souvenir shops and chocolate available just about everywhere in Switzerland including the airport. While it’s not very romantic buying souvenirs and chocolate at the Zurich airport gave us a way to spend our remaining Swiss francs as we departed.

We too purchased chocolates from the Coop and Migros supermarkets (there’s no such thing as bad Swiss chocolate, right!), supermarkets also stock Lindt. Also bought from the Laderach shop. Staff at Laderach also packed the chocolate in a cooler bag for no extra cost, as we were flying home to Australia via Singapore for a few days.

Purchased some Swiss Army knives as gifts, many shops will also engrave them for free – a nice personal touch.

    Happy shopping,

    Narelle
