About Interlaken guestcard and is there a visitor card for Spiez

Short summary – read this first

Peter is planning a 6-day trip with his wife to Spiez in early April and is looking for public transport options. He is inquiring about the Interlaken card and whether it covers Spiez or if there's a similar option available for their stay.

Key takeaways:
  • The Interlaken Guestcard is not valid for Spiez, so you’ll need to explore other options for public transport.
  • Consider getting the Berner Oberland Pass for broader coverage, including Spiez and the Jungfrau region.
  • If staying in Spiez, the Panoramacard Thunersee offers free travel on regional buses around Lake Thun and discounts on activities.

    Hello,

My wife and I are staying in Spiez for 6 days in early April. I have read that there is an “Interlaken card” for people who stay in the Interlaken area which give free travel on public transport as well as some other benefits. I was wondering if this card covers as far as Spiez, or if Spiez has a similar type of card?

    Regards,

    Peter

    Hi Peter,

    Welcome to MySwissAlps.

The Interlaken Guestcard is only valid in the Interlaken network area and does not cover Spiez. I’m not sure if there’s a visitor card for overnight stays in Spiez.

You might want to consider getting the Berner Oberland Pass. It provides free travelling in Interlaken, Spiez and the whole of the Bernese Oberland (https://www.myswissalps.com/travel-ticket/berner-oberland-pass/), including the Jungfrau region. You can view the coverage map here: https://www.myswissalps.com/travel-ticket/berner-oberland-pass/#downloads

    Regards,

    Anna

    Hi Peter!

Yes, you should get the Panoramacard Thunersee if you’re staying in Spiez. It offers free traveling on the regional bus network around Lake Thun (not the trains, unfortunately) and discounts on several activities.

In most cases, an additional rail pass is best if you plan on using quite some public transport. Anna’s suggestion is a good one. Here’s how to find out which pass suits your plans: https://www.myswissalps.com/travel/tickets/compare/.
