Suggestions for activities in Gstaad 4 days
A traveler is planning a 4-day trip to Gstaad and is looking for ideas on activities, day trips, and hikes. They want to know what to do during their stay, especially if there are any must-see spots.
- Visit Lake Lauenen for breathtaking scenery; you can either hike to it or take a bus.
- Consider taking a cable car to Wispile where you can enjoy activities like a cheese trail and visit local dairies.
- Take a day trip to Montreux via the MOB Panoramic Train for stunning views and places like Chateau de Chillon.
- The Swiss Travel Pass is a great option for unlimited travel on trains and buses in the region, making day trips easier.

I have holidayed in Gstaad a couple of times and I am spending 4 days there myself in July. Not sure when you are planning on being in Gstaad (assuming summer) so here are a couple of suggestions that may be of interest.
1. Lake Lauenen http://www.gstaad.ch/en/summe r/outdoor/swimming-and-bathing/mountainlakes. html A picture postcard lake approx 30 minutes from Gstaad by bus (refer http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable for timetable information). You can walk around the lake, hire a boat and have lunch at the restaurant located on the lake or alternatively catch the bus to Lauenen and walk to the lake (approx 1 hour on foot) or walk back from the lake to Lauenen and catch the bus back to Gstaad. I would highly recommended this just for the scenery.
2. Gstaad to Wispile via cable car http://www.gstaad.ch/en/cable -cars/facilities/gstaad /wispile.html There are a number of activities (as per the webpage) that you can enjoy including the cheese trail and the opportunity to visit cheese dairies http://www.gstaad.ch/en/gstaa d/alpine-authenticity.html I was fortunate to visit a dairy 5 years ago and I found it to be an amazing experience.
If you are feeling really energetic you can combine both of the above suggestions by heading up to Wispile and then hiking to Lake Lauenen (approx 3 1/2 hours), haven’t done this myself but by all accounts this is provides wonderful views of Saanenland (further details as per the link below) http://www.gstaad.ch/en/summe r/hiking/hikes.html#/d etail/B00818
If you want to venture out of Gstaad, I would recommend a day trip to Montreux via MOB Panoramic Train (1 hour 20 minutes one way). From Montreux you could visit Chateau de Chillon, http://www.chillon.ch/en/, take a cruise on Lake Geneva http://www.cgn.ch/en or alternatively head to the Lavaux Vineyards http://www.myswitzerland.com/ en-au/lavaux-vineyard-terraces-the-swiss-wine-route.html, and have lunch at one of the many lovely restaurants within the Lavaux region.
If you are in Gstaad from the 13th July onwards, the Menuhin Festival (classical music) takes place for 6 weeks at various venues in and around the area as well.
There are plenty of other options i.e. travelling to Interlaken or Brienz or Thun and Lake Cruises in the same vicinity on Lake Brienz or Lake Thun so I don’t think you will have any trouble finding something to do over the four days.
Hope these suggestions are of some help.

Can I ask between Gruyère and wispile which would you recommend?
Unfortunately I’m going this month so will miss the festival. 🙂 but the lake sounds great and I’ve planned for Montreux 🙂

What you could do is combine a visit to Gruyeres with a trip to Moleson (a 10 minute bus ride from Gruyeres station). I understand there is a show dairy in Moleson which has cheese making demonstrations (similar to what I suggested for the trip to Wispile). The link to the Gruyeres website will give you all the information you need: https://www.myswissalps.com/gruyeres, you could also potentially combine this with a trip to Broc to visit the Maison Callier Chocolate Factory (you will also find information about this on the website) however that would make it a pretty long day, I would estimate that to fit all the activities in and have time for lunch, you would need to leave Gstaad around 7.30am and would finish up in Broc around 5pm so you wouldn’t be back in Gstaad until after 7pm.
If it were me, I would pick 2 activities Option 1 Gruyeres and Moleson or Option 2 Gruyeres and Broc to make it a more leisurely day trip. If you were interested in option 2, I have provided the link below which should provide all the information you need on a cheese/chocolate excursion offered by GoldenPass http://www.goldenpass.ch/en/g oldenpass/offer/view?id=15
As I haven’t been on the chocolate train myself I would be keen to get others feedback on their experience to help guide you on your decision.
Happy and safe travels!!!!
