We are flying into Zurich in June for 9-nights. We are travelling to Luzern for 3-nights, Wengen for 4-nights and Zurich for 2-nights and then back to Zurich to fly out. We plan to visit Pilatus, Schilthorn, Grindelwald-first, Gornergrat, Matterhorn. We also plan to visit Interlaken, Lauterbrunnen, gimmelwald and do several hikes within these areas. We are still trying to understand which train pass to purchase. We have been reviewing various forums to help us but is a bit overwhelming as train travelling is not typical where we live in Canada. Has anyone thought about or purchased this new offer “Summer Trial GA Travelcard” from sbb.ch? or have any other recommendations? Any insight is appreciated.

    Hi McKs,

    Welcome to MySwissAlps.

The Summer Trial GA Travelcard is only available for people who live in Switzerland or a neighbouring country. For tourists, we recommend getting the Swiss Travel Pass. Based on your plan, I reckon an 8-day Swiss Travel Pass might be ideal.

Switzerland has an extensive rail network and the trains run regularly. You can find practical tips and info on how to travel by Swiss rail here: https://www.myswissalps.com/travel/train/how-it-works/

With the Swiss Travel Pass, you can ride the trains freely without the stress of purchasing tickets for each trip. In addition, the Swiss Travel Pass is valid on boats, trams and buses, and you can get up to 50% discounts on mountain transportation (gondola,, cable car, cogwheel trains). You can find further information about the Swiss Travel Pass here: https://www.myswissalps.com/travel-ticket/swiss-travel-pass/

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Anna
