Hi everyone,

The Summer 2023 schedule for sunset cruises on Lake Lucerne finally came out: http://www.lakelucerne.ch/en/your-cruise-experience/offers-tickets/culinary-cruises/sunset-cruise/

However, since we are staying in Weggis, it looks like it might be just about the same to take the last normal boat leaving Lucerne and then debark at Weggis instead of booking the above cruise and going roundtrip to Lucerne ; am I correct?

Hi davey1108,

The sunset cruise on Lake Lucerne is a roundtrip that takes about 2.5 hours. It’s a nice experience but not necessary if you have a full schedule and your itinerary already includes a boat trip from Lucerne to Weggis.

Hi Anna,

Does the Swiss Travel Pass cover this boat ride for free or is it additional charge and do you recommend booking ahead of time or can you do day of or day before? Thanks Cindy

HI Cindy,

Yes, the Swiss Travel Pass is valid on the sunset cruises on Lake Lucerne. However you might need to pay extra for the meals on board. It’s recommended to reserve a table in advance at least 2 hours before boarding. You can do this online or directly at any boat landing stage on Lake Lucerne.

Two recommendations:

1) don’t book a special cruise, just check the sunset times and the normal boat timetables

2) if you are staying in Weggis the sunset will be just as good from the lake shore, you don’t even need to be on the boat!
