    Hello ,

i will be traveling independently on September 12-22( 3 days in Wengen and 4 days in Zermatt ) I am planning to purchase an 8 day swill rail pass . Do I have to purchase a Jungfrau pass in addition to use the railways and cable cars in Jungfrau ? Or the Swiss 8 day rail pass will cover my Jungfrau travels ? Thanks again and looking forward for your response .

If you have a Swiss Travel Pass the Jungfrau Travel Pass is not necessary. Whilst it offers better discounts on some routes it is unlikely to be economic addition overall. Read the overview at http://www.myswissalps.com/ju ngfrautravelpass.

To confirm that you should read “How to choose the best travel pass” (http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/ticketspasses/prac tical/chooserailpass), download the handy spreadsheet calculator and do the math. The spreadsheet also includes links to all the available passes. Be sure to check the “Where it’s valid” tabs on the pages for the two passes.

Thanks for the info . So I can use the Swiss travel pass in Jungfrau ? I will be only using the rails between Grindelwald to Klein Scheidegg to Wengen down to Lautenbrunnen .

With the Swiss Travel Pass you only get 25% on the train Grindelwald – Kleine Scheidegg – Wengen. That will not be the only rail you use in the Jungfrau Region, believe me. Plus the STP covers a number of cable cars (eg to Schilthorn).

You need to study and understand the map at http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass/validity to get the best value from your STP.
