Swiss tourist trains operating with coronavirus?

Short summary – read this first

A traveler named Robbaker is planning a trip to the Alps in late April/May and wants to know if tourist trains like the Goldenpass and Glacier Express are still running on normal schedules. Are the tourist trains eg Goldenpass, Glacier Express and the cogwheels, furniculars to the mountain tops still running to normal schedules? Is there are a chance they could be shut down or scaled back due to the virus? We are planning to visit in late April/May and would not want to miss these experoemces.

    Hello Robbaker,

What a good idea to plan to visit the Alps!

    As to your questions :

    1. (Are they still operating?) – Yes.

    2. (Could they shut down due to the virus?) – Nobody knows, in other words, yes, they could. But this has not been discussed at all.

Besides that, do you know you can edit your posts for a while after posting them? Repeating four times the same point won’t increase your chances that benevolent forum participants give you a sensible information.

Have a great stay in the Alps this coming spring!

Thanks for that. Sorry about the repeat entries – I didn’t think they had gone through.

Will any cancellations be announced or do we have to keep looking at timetables?

Maybe keep an eye on this thread – http://www.myswissalps.com/forum/topic/does-the-corona-virus-affect-trips-to-switzerland. Italy just closed Lombardy off. Who knows what will be next.

    Hello Robbaker,

    Thanks for your question!

I understand your concern about the Coronavirus and how it might change your travel plans. We don’t know what will be closed or cancelled in Switzerland. It’s best to look at the official website of the train travel system, “SBB” for up to date changes. I will attach a link of other practical websites that you could look at for your reference:

    Good luck!

    Best regards,

    Suzanne
