A trip from Zurich would take about 2h40 if you’d take the most direct route, or 6h20 – 7h00 if you’d like to enjoy the wonderful GoldenPass train line via Lucerne, Interlaken Ost, and Gstaad.

Last Christmas, we took the Golden Pass Express from Montreux to Interlaken, and it was beautiful. You could do the reverse if you would like the scenic ride and view from the train. Otherwise, we also took a train from Geneva to Montreux when we arrived, and it was also very scenic and pretty. Geneva was our favorite more than Zurich personally, but there are benefits to both.
