    We are a family of three Indians,( 56,46 and 23 yrs) travelling to Switzerland in November via London. our

    Itinerary is as follows

    November 11 – London to Basel (morning flight) – take bus or train? to lucerne – check in -( Lucerne as base)

    November 11 and 12 – sightseeing in and around Lucerne

    November 13 – Trip to Zurich and back to lucerne in the evening.

    November 14 – check out from Lucerne to Geneva early morning, do some sightseeing if possible and fly to

    London by the late evening flight.

    We would love to see as much of nature ,historic buildings, and also boat and train rides.

    Suggestion required for what to see and do in Lucerne , Zurich and Geneva.

    Should we buy point to point tickets or a Swiss pass?

    Thanks in advance,

    Welcome Peebi! Here are some tips:

    • from Lucerne: Chappel bridge, town centre, Rigi (combined with a boat trip; the entire trip would be for free with a Swiss Pass), Pilatus, traffic museum;
    • in Zurich: viewpoint Uetliberg, Swiss National Museum, old town centre;
    • from Geneva: visit to the old town centre. This last few posts of this topic may be of help.

    The timetable helps you to plan all trips. It’s important to create a flexible schedule with some alternatives: especially visits to mountain tops are highly weather dependent.

    A rail pass will definitely be better than regular train tickets, but you can only tell which pass is cheapest if once you’ve finalized your itinerary and have a detailed list of trips, so that you can make calculations based on them. My first impression is that you could look into a 4 day Swiss Saver Pass for maximum convenience.

    Pls consider to include in you Itinerary
    Glacier 3000. (approx 3-4 hrs from GENEVA – by train). The real swiss alps.
    Geneva > Aigle > Les Diblerets > Glacier 3000 (by mountain lift)
