    Hello,

Is it easy to get taxi in Zurich, Lucerne, Interlaken, and Montreux, and Geneva? I see Uber in Zurich and Lucerne but not sure how easy to get a ride there. I need Taxi/Uber mainly between hotels and bus/train stations/airport when I have my luggage with me.

Is there a good App or link for Taxi for me to check rate and request a ride that is similar to Uber App?

Please share your experience and any suggestions.

    Thank you so much.

    Thy

    Hi Thy,

yes, you can find taxis and Uber in all of the mentioned places. But are you sure you’ll need a taxi? Public transportation is great in Switzerland and also more reasonable priced 🙂 If you have a Swiss Travel Pass (http://www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpass) you can use the city transportation for free.

If your luggage is the problem, have a look at the luggage service of SBB: http://www.myswissalps.com/train/practical/luggage

I have no personal experience with Uber, but I know they exist in Switzerland too. I hope that other forum members will share their experiences with us.

    Take care,

    Hi Ildiko,

I plan to buy STP, and I only need Uber/Taxi to get between train station and hotels when I have luggage with me. The hotel I booked is about 1km apart and I am worried to walk in the rain 🙂

It sounds interesting about storing luggage at train station. Thinking about doing that in Interlaken and Montreux. Is there a way to the pricing in advance?

Thank you so much for your advice.

    Thy

    Hi HeartVoyage,

You can certainly use Uber in the bigger cities such as Zurich. They are convenient but not really cheap. If you have the app, you can book your trips and compare the prices in advance. Your hotel would usually have contacts for local taxis too.

I agree with Ildiko though that it is more practical t o use the public transport. It is fairly easy to plan your trips using the SBB timetable.

    Regards,

    Anna

Hi Thy! Yes, you can check locker prices in advance. Use the 2nd link under “Information on other websites” at http://www.myswissalps.com/train/practical/luggage. Select a railway station there and then scroll down to “Equipment and lockers” for an overview of available sizes and prices.
