Top of Europe Pass versus Jungfrau Travel Pass

Short summary – read this first

A traveler is going to Switzerland in May and is seeking advice on the best pass to buy for their 3-day trip in the Jungfrau region. They are particularly interested in the Jungfrau Travel Pass and the Top of Europe Pass for visiting Jungfraujoch, expressing concern about costs and the convenience of purchasing the pass.

Key takeaways:
  • Consider the Jungfrau Travel Pass if you want a larger area coverage, as it includes more attractions and discounts.
  • The Top of Europe Pass allows unlimited access to Jungfraujoch, making it ideal if you plan to visit more than once.
  • Check if the passes can be purchased in Interlaken to avoid relying solely on online sales.

    Hey guys.

First of all, I would like to thank you for the precious tips that I am collecting here on the forum.

Well, I’m going to Switzerland in May and it seems to me that the Swiss Half Fare Card fit me better. We really want to go to Jungfraujoch (Top of Europe), but it seems to be quite expensive for our financial reserves. Looking at the Jungfrau website, I saw that there are two passes (Top of Europe vs Jungfrau Travel Pass). As we will be in the region for 3 days, the “Top of Europe Pass” seemed very interesting, as there would be a minimal difference ($) for just a single day in Jungfraujoch. Also, we would have free transportation in the region.

As I found the offer very attractive, did I miss something? Is this same type of pass sold on Interlaken or only on the internet?

    I appreciate all the help.

    Best for you all.

    Hi Lotharmathau,

Welcome to MySwissAlps! Both passes are similar with minimal differences: the Jungfrau Travel Pass covers a bigger area: http://www.myswissalps.com/jungfrautravelpass/validity. It includes the lakes and also a discount to the Schilthorn (http://www.myswissalps.com/schilthorn), for example. To be more flexible weather wise, this may come in handy. The Top of Europe Pass however, includes unlimited rides to Jungfraujoch: http://www.myswissalps.com/jungfraujoch. If you want to go there more than once it will be the obvious choice.

So it really depends on your goals. Both passes are fine. I think the Top of Europe Pass is an experiment from the pandemic. It will still be available this year but I doubt if both passes will remain to co-exist in the future. It’s a bit confusing 🙂

    I hope this helps you!
