In reading some things on this forum I am just realizing that I may need to purchase a one way ticket from Como to Chiasso on July30. My family of 4 will be traveling throughout Switzerland with a 3 night detour to Bellagio in Italy. We are planning on taking a train from Como to Lucerne. Per the SBB website I see there is a train that departs Como at 9:23 arrives Lugano at 9:58 and then departs Lugano at 10:02 and arrives Arth Goldau at 12:11. For your trip Como S. Giovanni to Lucerne, yes you would need a ticket from Como S. Giovanni to Chiasso, then your Swiss Travel Pass would kick in and take you to Lucerne.
