Hi juliekzp and Welcome to MySwissAlps,
I would say Zurich to Zermatt via Interlaken and Kandersteg would be more scenic than the fastest route Geneva to Zermatt.
But it is difficult to answer that question in isolation. How long are you visiting for and what sort of itinerary do you have planned?

Hi julie.
If you have time, come into Geneva, take the roundabout route via Montreux, Zweisimmen, Spiez, Kandersteg, Brig, Visp and on to Zermatt.
This will help on timing:

Use the “advanced” option to fill in “via” boxes. That will put you on the most scenic part of the Golden Pass route partway.

Rockoyster will gladly explain that variation, which is certain ly more scenic than the route he suggested, but which will take a lot longer.
This map will also be useful:

Zoom in a few times to see the train lines.

Thank you very much for your help! We have decided to fly into Zurich, but now of course I’m confused about what rail pass to buy, so I’ve posted a separate post about that :-D.
