Train travel from Paris to Bern/Lucerne area
A traveler is planning a 3-day trip to Switzerland, specifically to Bern and Luzerne, coming from Paris with their family. They are looking for the best economical travel options, especially regarding train tickets and the Swiss Travel Pass for travel within Switzerland. They want to ensure an affordable and smooth journey, particularly accommodating two senior family members.
- Consider booking a direct train ticket from Paris to a Swiss border station, as a Eurail pass may not be cost-effective.
- The Swiss Travel Pass will cover your travel within Switzerland after reaching the border, and you can print it at home for convenience.
- Check for current promotions on train tickets to maximize savings before your trip.
- While the usual route is through Basel, verify your travel options as they may vary based on date and time.

Hello,
I am planning to travel to Switzerland ( Bern and Luzerne) from Paris for about 3 days with my family. I am looking for the most economical travel options ( via Train from Paris) to arrive at these Swiss locations and return back to Paris. I have been looking at train options from Paris to Bern and have been checking the Swiss travel pass as well for travel within Switzerland. I am not sure what combination would work be most cost effective. I am not keen on getting a euro rail pass as I am only travelling to Switzerland outside of Paris.
I am travelling with two seniors so want make the best of this trip. Any suggestions will be helpful.
Thank you!
