Consider the metre gauge Zentralbahn from Luzern to Interlaken. Slower than the main line (via a different route) but magnificent scenery.
This train will arrive at Interlaken Ost station where it’s easy to change to the service to Grindlewald. But make sure you sit in the “Grindlewald” portion of the second train.

We just went in June. The trains were all very comfortable and the scenery was very nice on the last leg from bern to interlaken then on to mountain towns. Sit on the left side of the train for views of the lakes.

I was there for a couple of weeks in late May, and had wonderful weather. Hope you did to.
The route you describe via Bern is the main line route. Indeed, the last stretch has nice views across the lake.
However, the route proposed, which may have even nicer scenery, goes via Luzern to Meiringen and thence to Interlaken. It goes over the Brunig Pass, is part of the Golden Pass route, and that section of the route is called the Luzern-Interlaken Express…or was unless they changed the name agian.
It is a meter gauge line, if that matters.
