A roundtrip ticket to Jungfraujoch is usually valid the whole day. You can ascend via Wengen and return via Grindelwald or the other way around. And you are allowed to hop on and hop off if you wish. However if you have made seat reservation, this reservation is only valid for the specific connection you choose.

Hi Anna, I am planning a trip up to Jungfrajoch in mid May. When I log into the website above and try to book, it automatically puts in a seat reservation for going up, which I presume I needed to meet the schedule time . Should I miss that timing, can I still go up at a different timing but need to join the queue ?
As I understand the weather can be unpredictable until closer to the date , what is a good time to buy the ticket eg one or two days before the plan trip ?

For excursion to Jungfraujoch, seat reservation is now mandatory if you are travelling between May and August. If you are not sure what time you’ll be travelling for the ascent, I would recommend purchasing your ticket and seat reservation on the day or the day before travelling after checking the weather forecast and mountain webcam.
