Salzburg to Switzerland with Swiss Travel Pass
A traveler named kimlewis is planning a trip starting in Salzburg and moving to Switzerland for a vacation. They need advice on whether to buy a separate ticket from Salzburg to the Swiss border and how to use the Swiss Travel Pass for their journey to Lucerne.
- Purchase a separate train ticket from Salzburg to Buchs SG as the Swiss Travel Pass only covers the Swiss portion of the trip.
- You can stay on the train from Buchs to Lucerne and simply show your Swiss Travel Pass to the conductor when asked.
- Buy both tickets in advance for a smoother journey, and you can print the Swiss Travel Pass at home.

Hello.
Wondering if I could get a little advice. I am flying into Salzburg for a few days, then headed to Switzerland for the rest of my vacation, and I planning on purchasing the Swiss travel pass for 8 days to use while in Switzerland. Can I use the pass to get from Salzburg to Lucerne? Or do I have to buy a separate train ticket from Salzburg to the Switzerland border at Buchs, and then get off and then use my Swiss travel pass? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
