5 days in Switzerland with Swiss Travel Pass

Short summary – read this first

Muhammad is planning a family trip to Switzerland from August 8-13, focusing on Interlaken and Zurich. He wants advice on choosing a travel pass that covers various attractions, including Jungfraujoch, boat rides, and cable cars. He seeks suggestions to improve his travel itinerary.

Key takeaways:

The Swiss Travel Pass covers train travel from Interlaken to Geneva and boat rides on Lake Thun but only partially covers the Jungfraujoch excursion. For mountain excursions, some cable cars are fully covered, while others offer 25-50% off. Make sure to consult the Swiss railways timetable for accurate trip planning.

Hi every one, i am planning to travel to Switzerland from 8-13 Aug 2018 with my family (wife and 3 daughters (6,3,1)). I am little bit confuse in selecting a travel pass. As per my plan:

    1. I will be staying 4 nights in Interlaken and 1 night in Zurich.

    2. I would like to travel till Geneva through Montreox and Nyon from Interlaken on day trip and back by train.

    3. I want to visit Jungfrough (top of Europe) for a day trip while in interlaken.

    4. I would like to take boat rides in lake Thun and Bareinze.

    5. I would like to enjoy cable cars while going up on mountains excursions.

As per my understanding, if i buy Swiss travel pass then will all theses attractions covered in that? Any suggestion or ideas to improve my plan or travelling options will be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Muhammad

Hi Muhammad and welcome to MySwissAlps!

The Swiss Travel Pass does not cover all of that no. It will cover #2 and # 4 and partially covers #3. As for #5 it depends on the mountain excursion – some are covered fully, most are covered partially (25 or 50% off).
