Uber from Zurich to Lucerne for 4 adults?

Short summary – read this first

A traveler is arriving in Zurich from the US in late June and is looking for transport options to Lucerne for their family of four, as they will have luggage and are tired from a long flight. They are inquiring about the availability of Uber or recommended car services from the airport.

Key takeaways:
  • Consider taking the train to Lucerne; the train station is part of the airport and there are frequent connections, making it a comfortable option with ample luggage space.
  • If you prefer a car service, check websites like gettransfer.com or similar services, as Uberpop has been cancelled in Zurich.
  • The Swiss Travel Pass can be a convenient and cost-effective choice for seamless travel within Switzerland without needing to buy individual tickets.

I will be arriving from the US in Zurich in late June. As my family will have been traveling all night, I’m not anxious to try and get to a train station for transport to Lucerne. Is Uber available from the airport or is there a car service you recommend? We will be 4 adults with luggage for 10 days so a tiny vehicle will not work. Thanks!

    Hi!

Hope you are looking forward to your trip to Switzerland. For transfers from the airports, you can have a look at the link below for companies: http://www.myswissalps.com/ai rports/zurich

I believe Uberpop has been cancelled in Zurich but I cannot advise on the availability of other Uber services in Zurich.

I understand your concern about train travel, however just to offer you a different viewpoint: it is actually very convenient and much more cost-effective to travel to Lucerne by train. There is also plenty of space for luggage on Swiss trains in general.

Switzerland has a very good rail network and the Zurich airport-Lucerne route is very popular, which means there is a train every hour, taking a little over an hour to get there. You can view the direct train connections on this link: http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable

By car it will take about an hour, so would save you about 10-15 mins. Once you get to Lucerne, you can take a taxi to your hotel for example.

And as Rockoyster said, the train station is part of the airport so actually very easy to find.

Here is also a link to Lucerne for further information on your destination: http://www.myswissalps.com/lu cerne

Good luck on your trip whatever you decide and have a great time in Switzerland!

    Maria.

My wife and I flew overnight, 12 hours in economy class, from Hong Kong to Zurich, for our first holiday in Switzerland last year. Extremely exhausted when we landed. We are both nearly 60 years old. We took the train to Lucerne. With STP we didn’t even have to bother with buying tickets. Very easy, very comfortable. I took a nap on the train. We had never thought of trying to book and find a car pick-up at Zurich. Our hotel was only 10 minutes walk from Lucerne station though.
