Weather and clothes for Switzerland late October

Short summary – read this first

HL is planning a trip to Switzerland from October 19 to October 26, staying 3 nights in Zurich and 4 nights in Interlaken before heading to Austria. They need advice on how to pack for the colder weather, particularly since they live in a subtropical area and are unfamiliar with such conditions.

Key takeaways:
  • Check daily weather forecasts using a weather app like MeteoSwiss for accurate conditions during your stay in Switzerland.
  • Pack layers, including warm clothing and a raincoat, as October can be chilly and wet.
  • Ensure your accommodations have adequate heating, which is generally the case, but it's good to confirm beforehand.

    Good morning.

We are scheduled to visit Switzerland 10/19-10/26. Accommodations were selected: 3 nights in Zurich 4 nights in Interlaken ten move to Austria.

My first concern is “how to pack the clothes” because we are residents in subtropical zones, no snow. I heard that there is an APP i could use to check the weather. Would you provide me:

an average temperature during my travel period?

    the name of APP?

    Is necessary to bring raincoats?

Is there anything I must consider regarding weather conditions?

Is there enough heating system inside of houses due to Ukraine war?

    Thanks.

    HL
