    Dear MySwissAlps members,

I am checking the prices of train tickets on SBB website from Interlaken Ost to Bern. The train tickets will be for a return day trip.

Noted that we are only allowed to select either the Libero Individual Ticket, Libero Extension ticket and Libero Classs upgrade. May I know what is that about?

    Hi there,

you can find information about traveling in Bern here: http://www.myswissalps.com/bern/travel. On the right box on that page, called ‘Information on other websites’ you’ll find the map to the Bern city transport map (Libero fare network).

At http://www.sbb.ch/en/travelcards-and-tickets/buying-options/fare-networks/libero-fare-network.html you can read more about the Libero Fare Network.

Could you please tell me which day you want to travel, so I can have a look at those Libero options?

Are you going to have a rail pass?

    Thank you,

    Ildiko

LIbero is the brand name of the ticketing tariff area covering Canton Bern and Canton Solothurn.

    If you go here:

    http://www.sbb.ch/en/travelcards-and-tickets/buying-options/fare-networks/libero-fare-network.html

and select ‘buy Day Pass’, then input Interlaken Ost to Bern as your route you will be offered a Libero Day Pass direct (12 zones) or a Libero Day Pass all zones

Buying the day pass direct buys you 12 zones which is the number of zones the train travels through on the direct route between Interlaken and Bern.

If you buy a day pass all zones, you would be able to make unlimited journeys in and through any of the other zones in the Libero area. For example you could travel to the town of Solothurn or Biel Bienne or Burgdorf in the same day. You could also use an all zones ticket to travel between Bern and Thun by two alternative routes, vie Belp or via Konolfingen.
