Zermatt renting of ski equipment and clothing

Short summary – read this first

A traveler is looking to rent ski gear in Zermatt, specifically asking about the availability and cost of ski jackets and pants at Bayard/Intersport. They also want clarification on whether the rental prices include ski poles and goggles with skis and helmets. The traveler is preparing for their winter sports trip and needs this information to plan accordingly.

Key takeaways:
  • Check if other local shops also rent ski jackets and trousers, as they are often not available at most stores.
  • For ski rentals, remember that skis, poles, helmets, and goggles typically have separate rental prices unless stated otherwise.
  • Ask the rental shop about storing your shoes; many places allow you to keep them at no extra charge when renting ski boots.
  • Consider looking into packages or special offers at different winter sports shops for better deals.

    Hi cc123,

Generally sport shops don’t rent our ski jackets and trousers but there may be shops that do. Ski gears such as skis, snowboards, poles, helmets and goggles. are usually rented out at individual prices, individually unless otherwise specified. Some shops provide packaged deals or special offers so it’s worth looking and asking around. There are numerous winter sports shops in Zermatt.

    Hi Anna

When I rent the ski boots, does Bayard/Intersport provide a locker for me to keep my shoes that I have been wearing?

If not, where do I keep my shoes?

    Hi cc123,

I’m not sure to be honest. You could contact the Intersport store of your preference by e-mail to find out. You’ll find contact details by clicking any of the stores at https://www.intersportrent.com/skirent-zermatt~3949526.

Will you be staying in Zermatt? If so, you may be able to store your shoes in your apartment or hotel. Otherwise use the lockers at the Zermatt rail station. You can find details through the 2nd link under “Information on other websites” at http://www.myswissalps.com/train/practical/luggage.

I have always used Julen Sport (The Julen family is one of the longest existing families in Zermatt) and always get friendly service.

As you can see from the link I am giving, they rent clothing as well as ski hardware:

    Hi cc123,

You can leave your shoes at the shop and pick them up later when you return the boots. There’s no extra charges. But you can also hire a locker at Bayard (if you want to store equipment) but this will cost additional charges.

    Regards,

    Anna
