Zurich-Lucerne-Interlaken 4 days – which pass?
-
hi, im travelling from london to switzerland on a 4 day trip from 24-27 May..
day 1– fly to zurich, then visit rhine fall, other nearby villages and stay overnight in zurich.
day2 – planning to head to lucerne and go for golden tour to Mt pilatus and stay overnight in lucerne.
day 3 – mt titlis trip from lucerne and head to interlaken for overnight stay.
day 4 – interlaken and nearby place like grindelwald and head back to zurich airport for late evening flight.
so considering 2 options:
option 1: either take a regional tell pass for lucerne region to cover entire journey for day 2 &3 including trip to pilatus and tilis mountain excursions. so tickets to buy would be : entire day 1 and day 4 train tickets + single journey from zurich to lucerne on day 2
Estimate: 180CHF (tell pass) + 45 CHF (day1 trips) + 13 CHF (day 2 for zurich to lucerne) + 60 CHF (day 4 interlaken to zurich) = approx 290 CHF
option 2: buy a 4 day swiss travel pass (STP) which would cover all train, bus, boat journey except the peak excursions which are upto 50% discounted price.
estimate: 270 CHF(4 day STP) + 100 CHF(mt titlis & pilatus) = 370CHF
please help with thw following questions:
- Q1: for option 1, while looking for the individual single journey tickets on sbb website, not sure if we need to have half fare travel card as well to buy these single tickets as mentioned on website? please refer attachment and text in yellow
- Q2: for option 2, unable to find exact peak excursion fares with STP as different sites have diff prices.
- Q3: better place to stay on night 3 – interlaken/ grindelwald?
- any other suggestions/ places to must see on a short trip
