Hi Sally,

Welcome to MySwissAlps.

That's great you will be coming to Switzerland this October. Yes, the Swiss Travel Pass is very practical and convenient. You can read all about it here, how to use, where it covers, when you will need to purchase a ticket (though will discounted with the Swiss Travel Pass). You will find some purchase options too for the pass:

Nice plans :-) In answer to your questions:

1. You can read all about visiting Schilthorn (Piz Gloria) and Klein Matterhorn in the below link. In the "Route" tabs, you can find the operation dates and when there are maintenance breaks - you will be OK for October for both, though for Klein Matterhorn, you will only have one option up.

Mountain excursions are not typically included with the Swiss Travel Pass, though your ticket will be discounted. More information can be found in the "ticket" section in the above links.

Also, please do not buy your tickets too in advance, best to check the weather forecast to ensure you have favourable conditions to enjoy the views.

2. Plan your journeys using the SBB timetable: https://www.myswissalps.com/timetable

3. Similarly for your visits to the Chocolate factories and Cheese factory, use the above timetable to plan. More information on the factories here, you'll find handy directions too within each link. There are many chocolate factories so best you take a read through.

4. Festivals in the Interlaken area, some ideas here:

Or alternatively when you arrive, you can pop into the local tourist office and enquire.

Other handy links based on your plans:

I hope this helps, feel free to reach out with any additional questions.

Kind regards,

Yolanda
