Anyone who has done wild camping in Switzerland?

My family and I would like to go wild camping in Switzerland but we are not sure where we can go. In most areas it seems to be prohibited. Does anyone have specific places where they have successfully camped (not in a camping site)? It will be the first time I take my kids wild camping and so it has to be well planned with no mistakes.

Wild camping in the mountains

Wild camping is basically allowed in the mountains, above the tree line. This applies for one night only at each location, and with a limited number of people.

Although there are some general country-wide rules, the specific options differ per area. Contacting the local authorities or the tourist companies of the regions you're interested in will probably help you to locate good spots on which wild camping is allowed, and which are within easy reach for families. If you don't know which regions you'd like to explore yet, here's a start: www.myswissalps.com/regions. In general, the Bernese Oberland (www.myswissalps.com/berneseoberland), the Valais (www.myswissalps.com/valais) and Graubünden (www.myswissalps.com/graubunden) are best known for their huge offer of hiking trails in all sorts of difficulty levels.
