Hi everyone,

i and my husband plan to visit from 28 dec to 31 dec 2019. We already booked accommodation in Lauterbrunnen, but will be flying from London to Zurich. We plan to take train from Zurich to Lauterbrunnen, and spend our 3 days going around the area (grindelwald, jungfraugoch, interlaken, and villages/towns nearby). We will return to zurich on the 31st. Which one is better to purchase? Swiss travel pass or half fare pass? Thanks a lot for the inputs.

In order to find out which rail pass is the most economic option for you, you’ll need to decide on your day to day itinerary first. You can then find ticket prices and compare the discounts and prices of the rail passes against each other.

Certainly I think the Swiss Travel Pass is the easier option (trips to towns are free so you just hop on any train and go) but tickets must be bought at varying discounts when going to the mountains. A Jungfrau Hiking and Sledging Pass could also work out best.

Hi Lucas,

thank you very much. I think you are right, after i do the calculation swiss travel pass suit my needs. Anyway, as i adjust my travel and now i have to travel from 27-31 of dec 2018; i need to adjust my accommodation too. Do you happen to know what is the time for the latest train to either Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen or Wengen from Zurich airport? Thank you for your help..
