Hi,
We are in Stechelberg from the 18th for two-weeks and always buy a BeoAbo from the SBB ticket office. This give unlimited travel on local buses and cable-cars from Lauterbrunnen and Stechelberg (to Grutscalp, Gimmelwald, Murren & Isenfluh where some of the best walks are) a two zone pass is 66CHf (adult fare) or 53Chf (seniors). You need a passport photo when buying.
It all depends on how how much you intend to walk. Each trip, bus or cable-car, will cost 10.40CHf return. So if you use the BeoAbo every day for a week it's worth while and you bypass the queues at the ticket office!. Wengen to Lauterbrunnen on the train is 13.20CHf return which will not be covered on the two-zone BeoAbo but you would get half-fare with an appropriate Swiss Pass.
From Wengen you could cable-car up to Männlichen (half-fare with a pass) and walk to Kleine Scheidegg and then the 6km downhill back to Wengen or so on an easy trail.
