Como-Zurich with Swiss Travel Pass Flex

We are debating purchasing the Swiss Rail Flex pass for our upcoming trip. Wondering if it can be used to save money on tickets for train from Como to Zurich despite originating in Italy. When i looked at booking site for tickets, Swiss Rail pass did not show up as an option to choose for discounts applied to the ticket. How does this work? Thank you!

The Swiss Travel Pass Flex will be valid between Chiasso and Zurich. You can download the validity map here: www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpassflex/validity.

I had hoped to purchase a direct train through Swiss Rail from Como to Zürich, and wonder whether, if we have a Swiss Travel Pass, it would automatically take our passes into account when we book. I don’t know if that’s possible or if we have to book train from Como to the border, and then form there to Zürich in order for it to work. Any advice on this would be fantastic. Thank you so much.

Reservations are not required for all trains on this connection. You can check this in the Swiss timetable: the icon 'R' means that reservation is optional, and the icon 'R' in a square means that reservation is obligatory. If you want to order a seat reservation plus a ticket for Como-Chiasso at the same time, you can check if passholder fares are available as explained at https://www.myswissalps.com/traintickets/italy.
