Hi all,

my name is Nataleigh and I am from Australia. My daughter’s and I will be in Switzerland for 4 nights at the beginning of December 2023. I was thinking of doing 2 nights in Lucerne and 2 nights in Zurich. We want to explore these cities but would also like to take a day tour to Interlaken and Grindelwald. I would love to see the Rhine river and perhaps travel from Klein up the mountain. Should we consider seeing other places or things instead? With only 4 days we know it will be very busy but we want to make the most of it. I’m wondering about Lauterbrunnen. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

That’s exciting you are Switzerland bound in December!!

I think your suggestions are already sufficient for the 4 nights you are here.

If you like cities, Bern and Basel are doable from Zurich.

For exploring the Jungfrau region, Interlaken could be a better base. From Lucerne, travel times, you would be looking at just under 2 hours to 2.5 hours, by train, to reach Interlaken, Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen. Do use the timetable link so you can gauge journey times: https://www.myswissalps.com/timetable Of course, if you are Ok with this commute, Lucerne is a lovely spot, with lots to see and do also. You can visit the famous Mt.Pilatus, Mt. Rigi or Mt. Titlis comfortably.
