Is there a reliable seller of Swiss passes? I refer to cancellations/refunds management. My recent experience with Rail Europe exposed their extreme inefficiency. Thanks.

    Hi RodgerPF,

We recommend these Swiss Travel Pass resellers: http://www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpass/price. Happyrail gives you a refund of 85% if you cancel before the start date of the pass: http://www.happyrail.com/en/pass/europe/switzerland/swiss-travel-pass-consecutive. Basically this is the standard cancellation policy.

Travel insurances are also worth to check, there are maybe be travel insurances which provide a refund if there is an official travel ban.

    I hope this helps,

I recommend RhB who refunded my tickets in full within a couple of days of my request. I do not recommend Happy Rail who charged €15 and took 8 weeks to send my refund. I made both requests in mid March for my trip on the Bernina Express (bus – Happy Rail and train – RhB) for 25 May. Yes, I should be in Lugano right now looking forward to the fabulous bus and train trip on Sunday! At least I still have the trip to look forward to sometime in the future.

Hi, can you expand what is RhB. That will be good to know. I also don’t have a very good experience with Rail Europe.

I booked my Swiss Travel Pass through Rail Europe Australia (a misnomer as I still paid an exorbitant international transaction fee for a quote in Australian dollars) for early May. I am still waiting for my refund. I booked the Gotthard Panorama Express reservations through Happy Rail. I not only have to wait 6-8 weeks for a refund but they are also charging a €15 refund fee for tickets that cost approximately €40. However the tickets I booked for the Bernina Express and Glacier Express directly through RhB and the Golden Pass tickets through MOB.ch, I have been refunded in full. The lesson I have learnt through all my cancellations (trains and hotels) is to book directly and avoid 3rd party sites as much as possible. I’m still looking forward to a holiday in Switzerland sometime in the future. Meanwhile I’m enjoying the My Swiss Alps forum to help me plan an even better trip!

With Bernina and Glacier that you’ve booked directly RhB, can you please share the link of RhB similar to what you have done with Golden Pass MOB.ch.

These are really good information that you have shared.

    Hi RodgerPF,

You can also purchase the Swiss Travel Pass online from SBB via its travel centre. Here’s the link which Ildiko provided earlier: http://www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpass/price

The same link also lists a few other resellers.

    Hope that helps.

RhB web site is http://www.rhb.ch/en/home. I see other people have had similar experiences to me. At least when we all do our new bookings we will have the benefit of hindsight.
