Hi

i am travelling from england to switzerland next month. now we are flying to geneva and then getting the train to montreux, where we are staying for 2 days.

we would like to go upto rochers-de-naye (discounts on montreux riviera card?) and also travel to fiesch and then upto eggishorn for the views of the aletsch glacier

now ive been informed that the train prices on sbb are priced for the half fare card and so it would be double the price for people without this card.

is there any other way to get the train tickets cheaper for a return ticket from geneva airport-Montreux and return tickets from Montreux to fiesch, as buying any of the passes seem more expensive than what we would need them for

thanks

Matt

Hi Matt,

The timetable indeed lists the half fare and single trip prices by default. You get the regular price (of a single trip) if you uncheck the appropriate checkbox. For short trips, the Swiss Half Fare Card is a good choice. However, there's currently a 2-for-1 offer on the Swiss Saver Pass and Swiss Saver Flexi Pass, which is only a bit more expensive but it includes free traveling rather than half fare. I think you should look into that as well. Please see this example of how that could work out economical even for just one day trip.

thanks for the help and information, the flexi pass sounds like a good deal for that price for 2 people.

ive checked the network overview and from what i can see the trips to rochers-de-naye and cable car to eggishorn are included but at a discount price, is that correct

thanks again

Hi Matt,

Yes, that's correct. A 50 % discount from Haut-de-Caux to Rochers-de Naye, ánd from Fiesch to the Eggishorn.

Enjoy!
