    Hi,

I am not sure what I am doing wrong, but I am having a very difficult time finding the schedule to take a boat across Lake Lucerne and connecting to the rain up Mount Riggi. Can anyone help? I want to go on August 6th, but not until mid-afternoon, ideally around 3. Also, my husband won’t take the cablecar, so I need boat/trains exclusively. Thanks!!

Hi Lschoefer and welcome to MySwissAlps!

You can find a link to the Lake Luzern website here: http://www.myswissalps.com/bo atlakelucerne/gettingt here (under: ‘more on other websites’). That can bring up a PDF schedule to take a boat from Luzern to Vitznau.

The simplest way though is to use the Swiss railways timetable: https://www.myswissalp s.com/timetable

Enter Lucerne to Rigi VIA Vitznau. There is a 15:12 departure you can take.

On the way back you can take the train via Arth-Goldau or return by boat again.

It’s easy to connect from Luzern. However, if you are truly trying to go “across the Lake” as from Alpnachstad, there are few or no connections.

This is the website available through the page that Lucas linked. Lots of info in it. Scroll down and check it out.

As Lucas noted – if your destination is Rigi Kulm, then use the “via” as instructed on the page he linked for the SBB timetable.
