    Hi,

We will be arriving in Zurich on the 17th of Oct,afternoon and then leaving immediately for Interlaken. We already have Swiss travel passes.

17-19th Oct we are at Interlaken, and 19th morning we leave for Lucerne.

19th we are at Lucerne and 20th morning we leave for Zurich. Finally we leave Zurich on 21st morning.

The trips on our wish list are Jungfraujoch, Mt.Titlis, Mt. Pilatus and sights and attractions in and around Lucerne and Zurich as per the above schedule.

Any advice or recommendation will greatly help us in managing and planning properly.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Prem

    Hi Prem –

    Welcome to My Swiss Alps-

it looks like you have some worthwhile plans.

To better understand the travel timing, take a look at the timetable, and a map.

Please be sure to read the instructions page.

    and,

    map.search.ch/

Zoom in and you can see the train lines.

To meet your goals, you will need at least a couple of things.

One is completely under your control, the other …partially.

    1.- Luzern –

In order to visit the two mountains near Luzern, not to mention sight seeing, you will need more than part of the 19th. On balance, you’ll be better of if you stay in the region on the morning of the 20th, and don’t go to Zürich until late in the day. Of course, if you have specific goals in Zürich, then they would take precedence.

Luzern has a lot more scenery than Zürich.

    2.-Jungfraujoch –

This trip is highly dependent on decent weather. Heavy clouds at higher elevations can make the highest part of the trip pretty much useless, unless you like to pay a lot to see the inside of some clouds.

Keep track of the local weather and be flexible on your amount of time in the Jungfrau region. Most people allow 2 or 3 days to better the chances of having a clear day. Clouds can gather in the afternoon, so the morning is often a better time to go up to the Jungfraujoch.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the updates.

Basically as you have mentioned we will be in Interlaken till at least 19th afternoon. Hope this will be ideal for us to visit Jungfraujoch.

Any alternatives in Jungfrau if weather is not good ?

From Lucerne which among Titlis and Pilatus can be done in our schedule. We will probably have half a day on the 19th and another half on 20th.

Also as per your recommendation, we will leave for Zurich later in the day on the 20th. We do not have have specific goals in Zurich ,can you recommend what we can see or do within this time frame.

    Regards/Prem

    H i Prem-

You can find out alternatives for the Jungfrau in the link I posted above for the Jungfrau region.

You could also spend more time around Luzern.

You can learn about travel timing in the timetable, as I linked it for you above.

For the areas near Luzern, please look at the link that I posted above.

In addition, here is more information:

    including the travel details.

For Zürich, the link that I posted above can give you some ideas. Or, you can spend the time in or near Luzern, because it is a short train ride to Zürich. Check the timetable.
