Hi Kaju, and welcome to MySwissAlps!

I’ve traveled to Switzerland over 80 times since 1980, and have not run out of all of the “major attractions.”
“Major” is in the eyes of the beholder ( as is beauty, in a famous saying).
What do you like to do? And, what do you mean by “cover.”
For example, there are at least half a dozen “Major” (world class) art museums within easy reach of Zürich, in Zürich itself, Luzern, Winterthur, and Basel. Do you include that kind of thing in your interests? They might take a short time or a long time to “cover” depending on your interests.
Even in early April at lower altitudes, there are some nice hikes, some quite famous among hikers. Are they included in your interests? Of course, a hike takes a defined time to cover the trail from end to end…or a specific segment.
Restaurants? There are Michelin starred restaurants here and there, so, if restaurants are your interests, those are world class places. Are those included in your interests?
Scenic and panoramic train rides?

The links lead you to details including time taken for the trains(s) to cover the journey.

On going through a lot of sites and information landed up to this kind of a plan. V plan to land early morning in Zurich giving me a full day for zurich excurtion on day 1. Hope Rhine falls are doable.
Day 2 : V go to lucerne, get the local feel on that day and do Mt Titlis on Day 3. So i spend 2 nights in Lucerne
Day 4: Go to zermatt and Day 5 will be zermatt again where i would do Matterhorn/ Gornergrat
Day 6: Go to Gstaad for the gacier 3000
Day 7: Go to geneva and head to Paris
Now i need to know 1) is this plan will be doable 2) what all can i cover in the time span i have in the places i have mentioned, we would want to get more of a local feel of the city, njoy the culture and food, do 1 or 2 mountain excursions, njoy the train rides from one place to another. 4) If i take the swiss family pass for 8 days what additional tickets would i need to take in terms of travelling around.
Your help and expert advise on the above would be great.

Are you planning on staying in Gstaad then? I wasn’t clear on that.
So:
- Day 1: Zurich
- Day 2: Lucerne
- Day 3: Lucerne
- Day 4: Zermatt
- Day 5: Zermatt
- Day 6 Gstaad
- Day 7: leave for Paris via Geneva.
Is that correct?
I’d head for Lucerne on day 1 after you visit the Rheinfall (http://www.myswissalps.com/rh einfall).
I’d also consider Montreux (http://www.myswissalps.com/mo ntreux) over Gstaad (http://www.myswissalps.com/gs taad) in April. Even though Gstaad is a nice town – I think it is at its best in the winter and you might find more on offer in Montreux.- Yes it is doable
- Be sure to use the SBB timetable to plan out all your trips between towns and attractions/mountains. http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable. That will let you know how much time you need to get to where you are going each day. As a tip, I would say the average person spends about 2 hours on any given mountain top. Perhaps 3.
- The Swiss Family Card (http://www.myswissalps.com/sw issfamilycard) covers children between 6 and 15 on all trips with an adult who has either the Swiss Travel Pass (http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass) or Swiss Half Fare Card (http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isshalffarecard). The adults only need to buy extra tickets on routes that aren’t 100% covered by their rail pass (so all trips with a Swiss Half Fare Card as it gets 50% off all trips for example). Click the “Where it’s Valid” tab on the rail pass page for more details on route coverage.
Removed userParticipant72625 posts15 December 2018 at 10:45:52 #900178Thanks team for ure promt replies. Lucas will consider my stay in Montreux over Gstaad. Im booking my STP online. Need to know
1) I plan to do Mt Titlis and Glacier 3000 and Matterhorn, for this do i need to prebook my tickets or once im in Lucerne can do the booking.
2) are there any seat reservations required for this in trains.
3) The swiss tour site also has prebooking for a lot of sightseeing around, would booking in advance be cost effective or reaching there and selecting my plans as per the climate be better..
4) Im considering staying only in Lucern for 3 nights and Monreux for 3 nights, will travelling from these 2 destinations be best or should i be with my original plan of Lucern, Zermatt and Montreux.
5) will travelling from Lucern/Zermatt/Montreux require me to reserve my seats or can i just walkinto the trains. If reservation rquired from where can i do it.
Thanks for ure help TEAMALPS

- No pre-booking needed but possible on our mountain pages: http://www.myswissalps.com/ac tivities/naturalsites/ mountains (not you can’t go up the Matterhorn itself but only the mountains nearby)
- No – see here: http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/reservations
- If you are looking at actual tours I would pre-book.
- Really up to you and how much train travel you want to do each day from the town to your destinations. Zermatt is about 2 hours from Montreux I believe
- See link on point #2
Happy travels!
