Hello I will be traveling to Switzerland and I plan on getting the Swiss half fare card for one month and the Top of Europe Pass for three days.

But I’m confused about how to use this Top of Europe pass.

If I get on a train at Interlaken Ost to Grindewald will it just naturally be the correct train line (The Bernese Oberland Trains) or is there any other train companies that I could get in the wrong train?

Do I just get on the train and show my pass if asked?

If I’m actually starting out at Interlaken west do I just get my half price ticket to OST and then use my pass for the rest of my journey to Grindlewald?

Also I’ll be coming one day from Lauterbrunnen to Grindewald is the only train company the Bernese Oberland Trains and do I use my top of Europe pass.

Thank you I hope I’m clear

Hi Peggysharp22 and welcome to MySwissAlps.com!

You do not need to check the train company, just the from A to B and when you want to travel. So you simply go from Interlaken West to Interlaken Ost by train (5 mins) with your Swiss Half Fare Card (you need to get a 50% ticket.

From Interlaken Ost you use your Top of Europe Pass. You hop on and if a controller asks for it, you show him/her your pass. You travel to Grindelwald or anywhere you want.

There is also an other regional pass for this region, the Jungfrau Travel Pass. You get a 25% discount from the price of this pass if you already have a Swiss Half Fare Card: www.myswissalps.com/jungfrautravelpass/price.

It has a bigger validity area, check it here: www.myswissalps.com/jungfrautravelpass/validity.

Here is how you can use the Jungfrau Travel Pass: www.myswissalps.com/jungfrautravelpass/howtouse

If you want to calculate which pass is better for your itinerary, you can use this calculation spreadsheet here: www.myswissalps.com/train/ticketspasses/practical/chooserailpass.

I hope this helps,
