Hi All,

We are going to stay at Lauterbrunnen for 2nts and one night in Lucerne and our itenieary looks as below. Please advise if this is doable and in case weather is not clear on the top to go to jungfraujoch, then alternative?

We plan to stay 2 nts in Lauterbrunnen, arriving friday afternoon by train. So Friday, explore Lauterbrunnen. Saturday , if weather is clear then head to jungfraujoch or if not explore twon of Gridelwald and Interlaken. Sunday if weather s clear, head to jungfraujoch or if unclear head to Lucerne as we are srayin for one night( Sunday ) in Lucerne. Monday have half day too to explore Lucerne as our train back is in the evening.

We are palnning to buy swiss half fare card as we will be travellin to Lucerne by train( not booked yet). Please advise if choice of this card is good as we are two adults travelling?

Also, any additional place we must visit while we are there?

Many Thanks

Nancy

Hi Nancy, thanks for joining us!

I think your plans look fine. Here are some thoughts:

  • Lauterbrunnen is quite small, so you won't need the entire afternoon for sightseeing there. If weather is fine, you may get up to Grütschalp, Mürren or even the Schilthorn for some pretty views;
  • bad weather alternatives are listed at our Interlaken and Lucerne pages. In Lucerne, the Museum of Transport is for sure worth a visit on a rainy day;
  • the Swiss Half Fare Card seems to be a good option for your trip. Will you be leaving next Friday already? In that case I'm afraid it's too late to buy your pass online, so you'll have to spend some time arranging for it right after arrival in Switzerland.

I hope this helps you out. Enjoy your stay!

Hi Annika,

Many thanks for your kind suggestion. We are leaving this Friday(12/02), so guess its too late to purchase online, isnt ? Also, as the weather doesnt look much favorable to visit Jungfraujoch this weekend, so is it still worth buying half price card?

Thanks

Nancy

Hi Nancy,

Yes, it's too late to buy online. Whether it's still a good option if you skip Jungfraujoch depends on your alternate plans. You can make a calculation as explained here.

In any case, have fun!

Kind regards,

Arno
