Thankyou for creating such a informative and valuable site.
We are planning to go to Switzerland next month(A dream come true!) Below is a our rough iternary so far. We are interested in enjoying the scenic beauty, natural landscapes and the amazing travel infrastructure.
Days – 4 and a half days
Base – Lucerne
Day 1 – Fly to Basel and reach Lucerne by afternoon. Spend time exploring Lucerne.
Day 2 – Mt. Rigi – by the boat option.
Day 3 – Mt. Titlis and Glacier Park (had a hard time choosing between Titlis and Jungfraujoch)
Day 4 – Wengen and Männlichen – Kleine Scheidegg hike.
Day 5 – Lake Brienz and Brienz town.
We feel that something is still missing. Would love to get some suggestions one the below
1. Can we swap one of these days for some other places.
2. Would like to fit in a scenic train ride
3. Would like to visit one of the cities like Berne or Zurich.
Appreciate your help and suggestions.

Note that the Männlichen to Kleine Scheidegg hike is not guaranteed to be accessible. It normally opens mid June, but due to warmer weather it could open earlier.

Mount Schilthorn might be an option, assuming that you will have a Swiss Travel Pass for your 4 days (it’s free then). 1. The reason behind choosing the Männlichen – Kleine Scheidegg hike was it is accessible from Wengen. Correct me if I am wrong but after going through a lot of posts it seems Wengen is more beautiful than Mürren. So will it be possible to do the both Wengen and Grütschalp – Mürren hike (or any other hike having beautiful views of the mountains) on the same day or would it be a bit overstretched.
2. Also as per your suggestion for Day 5, would we be able to combine Bern and Lake Breinz on the same day. We tend to start our day by around 10.30 in the morning and would have the entire day. Do u think it would be a bit overstretched to do both on the same day.
3. Our return flight from Basel is at 7 am in the morning. We will be traveling from Lucerne to Basel. I checked the train options and it seems we would have to take the last train of the day and spend the night at the airport. Could you please suggest any other options we might have.

1. You can do both hikes if you start early. They are not too long. I don’t think Wengen is more beautiful than Mürren. They’re different, and Wengen is more centrally located. For the views I’d perhaps prefer Mürren, but both are wonderful:
2. It would be possible even if you start by 10:30, but then you’ll just be back later. It also depends on how much of Bern you want to see. You can walk around for 2 hours or an entire day. You can plan travel times using the timetable: http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable.
3. You can’t spend the night at the airport, but you can book a hotel in Basel:
