Hi, we as a group of 4 will reach Basel on 31/5/18 in the afternoon time. The planned journey will be as below:

31/5/18 11am from Basel to Lucerne

6pm from Lucerne to Interlaken Ost

1/6/18 Visit Jungfraujoch (round trip will cost CHF 235?)

2/6/18 10am from Interlaken Ost to Bern

The Swiss Half fare card will be a good option for the above planned journey?

With the half fare card the round trip of Jungfraujoch will become CHF117.5?

Are we able to purchase the half fare card on 31/5/18 at Basel station?

will be eagerly waiting for the reply…

Greetings Xiaowei and Welcome to MySwissAlps,

Is that your entire itinerary? Where do you come from before Basel? Where do you go from Bern?

Yes you can buy a Swiss Half Fare Card at Basel but most people buy on-line and print at home before arrival in Switzerland. For a discussion on passes see http://www.myswissalps.com/fo rum/topic/permalink/g7 xWjKDW9mqS6v8AAFcRTQ.

Hi rockoyster, we come from Paris before Basel and will be headed to Italy after Bern. Noted, we will consider buy it online.

Understand that the half fare card is valid for a month, do I need to activate it?

When purchasing train ticket from the ticketing machine just select half fare will do?

The return trip of Jungfraujoch will be covered under this half fare card right?

    Hi Xiaowei,

No activation needed – just pick your start date when ordering online.
Exactly, just select that you have the Swiss Half Fare Card, sometimes noted as Halbtax, in German, or “1/2” (half price).

Yes, 50% off the trip to Jungfraujoch from where ever you start.
