We will be arriving in Zurich from US and plan on taking the train from the airport to Wengen. Will spend two nights in Wengen then back to Zurich airport to catch up with friends. In Wengen, some hiking but also want to go to Murren, so would the Gondola be the best way? We also might consider cog train and train up to Jungfraujoch. Is this too much to do in two days. The first day we don't arrive in Wengen until approx. 2:00pm, will have all day Friday, then back to Zurich late Sat afternoon. We do want to make the most of our time there, however, do not want to cram toooo much in and be exhausted. So bottom line, what type of pass would be best for that scenario. Or what suggestions do you have to see the area?? My husband is into heights and trains. Do I just "bite the bullet" and do the Swiss Pass for two ($452 USD)

Thanks so much.

Hi Marie,

You can best consider the Swiss Card. It includes the transfer to and from Wengen for free (you don't need any further tickets), and 50% discounts on further trips to Mürren, the Jungfrau, etc. See here for details. A Swiss Pass would be a bit more expensive; the cheapest one is the 3-day Swiss Saver Flexi Pass which includes nearly all your trips for free (to and from Wengen are free, traveling to Mürren is free), except for the trip to the Jungfrau. Details are here.

The Jungfrau is very impressive. I would recommend that, but only if the weather is clear or you won't see anything up there. If the weather is best on Saturday, you could even do it very early in the morning before going back to Zurich. Another great trip for train lovers is Schynige Platte. On the afternoon of arrival, you could take the lift up to Männlichen from Wengen. There are hiking trails from there if you want to explore more that day.
