We will be travelling to Switzerland and would like to purchase the Swiss Family Pass . We are 3 adults above 20 and one child that is 14 years old. Is this pass the best option as I read that the child travels free with one paying adult? We would like to visit the following places and our tentative itinerary is as follows:

Zurich (1 day) – Rhine falls and city tour

Lucerne (1 day) Can Mt Titlis and Schilthorn be covered in one day as they are nearby?

-Mt Titlis (Discounted for adults and free for the child? The child bit was confusing)

-Schilthorn (I’ve read that the whole trip is free included in the Swiss family pass) then back to Lucerne for the city tour.

Grindalwald First -Half a day for the trip up and back down with the glider and then with the First mountain cart.

Bern (1 day)- Bern City tour and Trip to Jungfrau (Discounted for adults and free for the child? On the way back we would like to visit Trummelbach falls and back to Bern.

Geneva (1 day) – City tour We would also like to visit Chaplin’s world.

We want to cover all the above and the choice for a Swiss pass is either 4 days or 8 days. We will stay 6 days max . Is it worth visiting all the mountain tops?

Please advise which pass is most suitable for us. If the above itinerary is feasible? Which areas to visit and stay so travelling time is saved. Thank you very much for your help.

Hi NazKhan and welcome to MySwissAlps!

Mt. Titlis and Schilthorn are not very close to each other. To plan trips for your stay, between towns and mountains etc. use the SBB timetable – it will give you all details and duration. Then you can decide what is possible or not for your group: http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable

The Swiss Travel Pass would need to be bought for each adult in your group and then you can add on the Swiss Family Card (free) which is for the child. The child is then free on all your travel. Some trips on the Swiss Travel Pass are 100% free (like Schilthorn) and others are discounted (like 50% off to Titlis). See a list of coverage areas here: http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass/validity

It is super convenient to buy the Swiss Travel Pass online (or the Swiss Half Fare Card) and the Swiss Family Card with either option. They can be emailed to you and printed at home (saving you time at the airport train station and giving you a copy to print out again in case you lose your pass)

The Swiss Travel Pass for 8 days is the simplest option. If you want to compare the 4 and 8 day pass for your final itinerary (and also compare other passes, like the Swiss Half Fare Card) you can do so here to be sure which is best for you: http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/ticketspasses/prac tical/chooserailpass

    Dear Lucas,

Thank you for your reply. We have a change of plan. We are thinking to travel to other parts of Europe since we will be in Switzerland.. Can you guide us in purchasing the right train tickets from ‘Zurich to Milan to Paris to Geneva’. We will fly out from Geneva. So which train tickets is best for us to use within Switzerland and trains for from Switzerland to Europe and back . Thank you and best regards,

    Khan
