Hello travelers,

A tip for everyone who's planning their day trips in Switzerland: the recently renovated cable car at the Stanserhorn near Lucerne is a world novelty. It's a double deck open air cable car called "CabriO". The top deck allows you to make the trip up the mountain in the open air.

A return ticket costs CHF 34 with a Swiss Pass, Swiss Flexi Pass, Swiss Card or Swiss Half Fare Card. The regular price is CHF 68.

Have fun up there!

Hi Arno - that looks like fun! Might need to add this to the ever-growing list of "things to do, places to go" for this year's trip - so many things to choose from! Maggie

It sounds fantastic, and I would love to do this when I'm in Luzern in a few weeks. Arno, where from Luzern is the cable car? Regards, Irene

Hi Irene! The cable car starts at Stans. You can plan your trip using the timetable, entering "Stanserhorn" as your destination. The valley station is named "Sans SthB" (= Stanserhornbahn). Have fun!
