    Hi,

Good day. I just want to ask about which pass is best for my wife. We are planning to travel in Switzerland this coming October 16 to 19 we are planning to stay at Interlaken (4 days/3 nights). Then from Interlaken we want to visit Jungfrau. Can you advise pass is best for us? Thank you in advance.

Hi Red and welcome to MySwissAlps!

For a rail pass that is best for the Interlaken area, look at either the Jungfrau Travel Pass or the Regional Pass – Bernese Oberland.

If you plan on traveling further out from Interlaken, look at the Swiss Travel Pass: https://www.myswissalp s.com/swisstravelpass

In the end, To know which rail pass is the best for your specific itinerary you need to plan out all trips you will make (train, bus, boat, cable car) and compare the prices for regular tickets to the rail pass price (and which routes/mountains are free or discounted). Once you have that information you can read our page here on how to choose the best rail pass. There is a spreadsheet there to help with the math. 🙂

    Hi Lucas,

Thanks for your quick reply, I really appreciate it. Actually we will be coming from Milan then to Interlaken. We are planning to just room around Interlaken and Jungfrau only. So would it best to just get the Jungfrau Travel Pass? And any suggestions since we are coming from Milan?

    Thanks-Red

    Hi Red,

Since you’ll be coming from Milan the simplest option would be a Swiss Travel Pass (Lucas’s 3rd link). You’re then covered from the border (Domodossola) to Interlaken too. You would only need a ticket from Milan to Domodossola: http://www.myswissalps.com/tr aintickets/italy.

Please click to Lucas’s first 3 links and go to the “Where it’s valid” tab to download the detailed maps of all routes covered by the various passes. The Jungfrau Travel Pass covers a rather small area. It may not be enough to “roam around Interlaken”, but it really depends on where you’d like to go. Again, the Swiss Travel Pass is the easiest option. It also includes the trip from Interlaken to wherever you go next (as long as it’s within Switzerland).

Sorry Arno, just a quick follow-up question, do we need to change train from Domodossola to Interlaken? Thanks

Yes, at Brig and Spiez, or just Spiez, depending on the connections you choose.

You can plan this trip using the Swiss Timetable:
