    Hello,

My husband and I will be travelling to Switzerland in the first week of October, for 3 nights. We will be flying in and out of Zurich and will be making Lucerne our base. On the first day, we intend to cover Lucerne . On the second day, we plan on covering as much of the Bernese Oberland as we can. For example, Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald, Interlaken. On the third day, we would like to do the Titlis excursion.

Earlier, I was looking at the regional tell pass, as it is less expensive. But i believe it will not cover Bernese Oberland and travel to and fro from Zurich. So, is the Swiss travel pass our best option? Will it cover all the travelling we do? Also, will this pass get us a 50% discount on the titlis excursion?

    Regards,

    Neha

Hi Neha and welcome to MySwissAlps!

To know which rail pass is the best for your specific itinerary you need to plan out all trips you will make (train, bus, boat, cable car) and compare the prices for regular tickets to the rail pass price (and which routes/mountains are free or discounted). Once you have that information you can read our page here on how to choose the best rail pass. There is a spreadsheet there to help with the math. 🙂

I would expect the Swiss Travel Pass is best as you are moving between a couple regions. You can see what routes and mountains are covered by the Swiss Travel Pass here: https://www.myswissalp s.com/swisstravelpass/ validity

I would expect the Tell Pass to be better only if you took advantage of more mountain trips around Luzern or didn’t go to the Bernese Oberland area.

As it is the Swiss Travel Pass gets you to Titlis and Pilatus at 50% off

    Hi Lucas,

Thanks a lot for your advice. The Swiss travel pass would be my preference too, i guess.

It is certainly the simplest option for you.

If you want to do the math to check for sure you can. But I’d just go with the Swiss Travel Pass I think. 🙂
