    Hello,

I arrive to Zermatt from Interlaken in the morning. Would I be able to go both Gornergrat and Klein Matterhorn on the same day? I leave for St. Moritz the next morning, so I only have one day and would like to know what would be the best itinerary for that day at Zermatt.

    Thanks.

Yes, possible to do both in one day but start early or it will be too stressful

    Hello

We are in the area now. Yesterday my son did Klein Matterhorn and we did Gornegrat. Based on our experience I would say get a reasonably early start and do Gornergrat first as this invoices a nice relaxing trip up on the cogwheel train with awesome scenery and at the top you can chill out and admire the surroundings and of course Matterhorn. Then when back down you would have as long as you like to do the walk to the Klein Matterhorn station about 30 mins at the other end of Zermatt and once up Klein Matterhorn there is more to do so more time needed. I was quite warm up Gornergrat but my son says cold up Klein. Have a great time in this incredible area

The Gornergrat railway (let’s call it the English ‘Rack railway’ for a change 🙂 ) is also good for your health. Ascending more gradually to high altitudes is safer than zooming up to Klein Matterhorn

Yes! We did both today, starting at 0800 to Gornergrat, spent sufficient time there , came back to Zermatt for lunch at 1030, then went to Klein Matterhorn. We then hiked down from Furi to Zermatt, stopping for many beautiful pictures. We were back in Zermatt at 430 pm. It doesn’t get dark here until after 10 pm. Enjoy!
